Sherman and Lugo Come Home With Midlands Hardware

Zach Sherman [University of North Carolina] and Patricio Lugo [University of Iowa] both placed and made the podium at this past weekends Ken Kraft Midlands wrestling tournament.  The Midlands is considered by many as the toughest college event other than the NCAA D1 Championships. Zach Sherman [UNC-Unattached] placed 3rd at 141 pounds. Sherman competed as unattached as he is redshirting this season for UNC. He is a former NCAA qualifier in 2018.  Patricio 'Pat" Lugo placed 4th at 149 pounds while representing the University of Iowa. Pat wrestled Sammy Sasso from Ohio State University in the 3rd place match but lost in SV overtime. It was a great match that Pat seemed to control early on, until Sasso made some slight adjustments and was able to get in on some shots and was able to tie the score up late in the third period.  Sasso actually took the lead with short time but Lugo was able to get an escape of his own and tie it up to force the sudden vistory overtime period. Unfortunately, Sasso was able to get in on another shot and score 2 for the win.
