    Wrestler of the Week

    Edward Marshall Craig V
    Manatee HS
    Bradenton, FL

Won the Russ Mauger Award, as voted on by coaches, wrestlers and officials, for outstanding sportsmanship and character before Saturday’s state finals at Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee. Craig was also a 3A finalist, competing at 120 pounds for the Hurricanes. The Wrestling Nation salutes Marshall Craig as its Wrestler of the Week!

    Team of the Week

    Clay High School
    Green Cove Springs, FL

After state-record setting Lake Highland Prep and four-time 3A champions South Dade, no other team scored more points than the Blue Devils, who would have finished second in 3A as well as in 1A and would have won the 2A division, despite having no individual state champions this season. TWN is proud to announce Clay as its Team of the Week!

    Coach of the Week

    Javier Perez
    South Dade HS

OK, so Mr. Perez is technically the Buccaneers’ principal and not on SDHS’ wrestling staff. But after losing the use of both his legs to a drunk-driving accident 10 months ago, Mr. Perez kept a promise made to Buccaneer coach Victor Balmeceda and showed up for states this past weekend. As an inspirational leader and a reminder of the role promises kept has in wrestling, Javier Perez is the TWN Coach of the Week!
